Every project schedule is made up of hundreds of interdependent activities. A delay in some of them pushes the whole project back; others carry a cushion of float. The critical path method identifies which activities have no float, and directs management attention to the work that's actually critical.
Without that distinction, teams tend to react to minor delays with the same urgency as major ones — and resources get spent in the wrong place.

Long-lead equipment and materials — elevators, bespoke façade systems, transformers — go into the procurement pipeline the moment a contract is signed. Supplier pre-qualification secures delivery dates and reduces quality risk from the outset, rather than discovering either problem later.
Site Discipline and the Weekly Control Loop
Weekly look-ahead schedules clarify exactly which work gets done by which crew over the next two to three weeks, and bring subcontractors to the same table to coordinate sequencing. Punch-list discipline starts the moment each piece of work is finished — not at project close-out — so the workload doesn't pile up at the end.
